Time for School

Posted by alicia on Aug 26, 2004 in Life

I start school in 4 days!!! I’m pumped. Today I went to the bookstore to get a couple of my textbooks. The others should arrive in the mail today or tomorrow!
I don’t expect my classes to be very hard. But I think it will be very interesting taking them at the same time because they each deal with a different aspect in exercise science.

Buying a House

Posted by alicia on Aug 25, 2004 in Life

Tonite Dan & I are meeting with a real estate agent. So, as you can imagine we are both excited and somewhat nervous. Feel free to say a prayer for us.

It’s the weekend!! Yippie! Time to relax and hang out with Dan. :-)

I spent a lot of time reading Waking the Dead , so let me share a passage….

To find God, you must look with all your heart. To remain present to God, you must remain present to your heart. To hear his voice, you must listen with your heart. To love him, you must love with all your heart. You cannot be the person God meant you to be, and you cannot live the life he meant you to live, unless you live from the heart.

Waking the Dead

Posted by alicia on Aug 15, 2004 in Life

I just started Waking the Dead by John Eldredge. The book is subtitled The Glory of Heart Fully Alive. Sounds exciting. I really enjoy reading Eldredge because of how his words speak right to my heart. I’m sure you have had similar experiences when it seems like the author is writing specifically to you. I am often amazed at how Eldredge can put into words emotions and situations that I have never been able to describe. I will share some of those passages as I read Waking the Dead…..starting with this one….

Has God abandoned us? Did we not pray enough? Is this just something that we accept as “part of life”, suck it up, even though it breaks our hearts? After a while, the accumulation of event after event that we do not like or do not understand erodes our confidence that we are part of something grand and good, and reduces us to a survivalist mind-set. I know, I know - we’ve been told that we matter to God. And part of us partly believes it. But life has a way of chipping away at that conviction, undermining our settled belief that he means us well.

Don’t think that this is too simple for you. Don’t move on thinking that you already “know” this….instead, let it sit with you as you think about the battle that we call everday life.

Today is our 2 year anniversary!!! I can’t stop thinking about how lucky Dan is to have me as his wife. ;-)

My sister, Fawn, got married on Saturday. It was a very nice wedding. I had the opportunity to spend some good quality time with her. That was even nicer than the wedding. :-)
