the weekend and writing

Posted by alicia on Sep 20, 2004 in Life |

if you read dan’s blog then you know that i did not get to go on the horizon adventures with him yesterday. i spent the weekend in training seminars. this weekend’s topic was spinal stabilization…so, if you’ve got back pain, lets talk. anyway…i dread going to these seminars mainly because they take up so much of my weekend (which is my main source of dan-time). i know that i have learned a lot over the past few months, but it doesn’t seem to balance with the amount of time & energy i’ve spent at these seminars. i hope that it will all pay off in the end.

moving on to more pleasant things…..dan & i have been talking lately about creativity. we’ve talked about all different avenues that we want to explore so that we can worship God in different ways and also to challenege ourselves. i am really interested in writing. i remember in a high school english class my teacher started each day with having us do a creative writing exercise. for example he would give us a phrase and that is what we wrote about. every thought that came to mind went on the paper. i really enjoyed those. they were a great way for me to examine things going on in my life. have any of you done writing exercises in the past? what did you do and did you like them?

You reminded me how much I love to write, and that it was at one time a big part of my life. Writing helped me get a handle on where I was and where I wanted to go. So why have I abandoned it? Hmmmmm….

Hey, sounds like some of the stuff we already talked about in our small group recently. I have noticed that you like poetry and different quotes and stuff. I think it would be neat for you to explore that area of worship…my writing desires probably differ from yours some, but I’d love to share.
