Prayer Beads

Posted by alicia on Jan 14, 2006 in Uncategorized |

Prayer beads are something that I’ve never used before. But a few months ago I was inspired by the Urban Abbess who made prayer beads with her children. Last night I finally made my own strand of prayer beads. Instead of following a scripted prayer for my beads I came up with groups of people that I want to pray for on a regular basis. These groups include Richmonders, those living in Church Hill, those who come into our home, my friends, and my family. For each group I pray for love, peace, liberation, transformation, and their dreams. My prayer beads are very simple, but I look forward to using them daily to guide me.

I think this is a cool idea. Keep me/us posted as to how it works. I’ve considered something similar myself, but haven’t instituted it in my practice as of yet.

Can’t wait to see it. I love the idea.
Lots of questions…When you say a strand, do you mean a necklace/rosary type, or smaller?
What did you string the beads on? Did you use the wire we got at the bead store?
Did you use the beads from Christmas? I also got some, but have not opened the case yet.
It’s a very sweet thing to know that I’m being prayed for, and because of that there will be more love, peace, transformation, and fulfilled dreams in my life. You rock, daughter!

Answers:
Strand = Necklace/rosary type. It’s a necklace w/ the cross hanging down about 3-4 inches.
Yes, i used the wire we got at the bead store. I didn’t do it like the one we saw at the store. I did just a simple loop on each bead.
Yes, I used the beads from Christmas. There were some really pretty beads in there.
