Anyone interested in the Relay For Life of Richmond West should know that there is a meeting tomorrow night. Even if you are not sure if you want to be involved, this will be a great chance to learn about the event and the American Cancer Society. The meeting is at 7:00 and will be held at the Glen Allen office (4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen). Dan & I will be going if anyone wants to meet us there (or before for dinner??).
Dan’s out of town till tomorrow. I’ve been getting jealous each time he calls and tells me about the people he is meeting. I wish I had taken off work and gone with him. Anyway, he’s home tomorrow and I’m sure the rest of the week will be full of him telling me stories and me saying “Oh, I wish I had been there!”……
I’ve been trying to get caught up on some work while Dan has been away and I have failed. I’ve done about 1/10 of the what I was hoping to accomplish today, but I did get in a really good workout and spent about an hour working on American Cancer Society stuff. Maybe tomorrow I’ll actually get some studying done.
Like others who enjoy participating in Relay for Life, there are a lot of reasons why I want to be involved.
I want to meet more people in the Richmond area. I want to be more invovled with my community. I want to honor my friends and family who have battled cancer. I want to be a part of finding a cure. I want to support aid that is being given to individuals who are currently undergoing treatment for cancer or have a loved one who is fighting this disease. I want to help provide an experience where people who have been hurt by this disease can see that there is hope.
Here is some information about what Relay for Life is about:
Relay For Life of Richmond West is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back against this disease. During the event, teams of people will gather at Deep Run Park and take turns walking or running laps. Each team keeps at least one team member on the track at all times.
Relay of Richmond West is much more than a walk around a track. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. It’s a night for people who have shared the same experience to comfort and console one another.
Relay gives you the power to help accelerate the Society’s advancement toward a future where cancer doesn’t take the lives of our friends and family.
Sign up today to become a part of the Relay of Richmond West phenomenon and make plans to join us on June 2nd and 3rd at Deep Run Park for a night to remember. Together we can accelerate the progress to a cancer-free future.
If you want to be involved there are lots of ways to get started. Like with most fund-raising events you can just donate money. Or you can give your time to spread the word about this event, or put together a team of friends, family, &/or co-workers, or volunteer at the event. There are lots of ways to help and be involved. Follow the links above to learn more or you can ask me.
I’m having a difficult time with work right now. The past couple of days I’ve been overwhelmed with a realization that I don’t want to be in this career. Sometimes it really upsets me because I know it will be a long time before I can consider changing careers (that is, if I figure out something else to try).
Last night we went out to First Fridays. The plan was to hook up with some girls that I work with, but that didn’t happen. However, I did get some cool jewelry-making ideas that I want to try out soon. Plus, the craziest thing happened…..we ran into some guy, Jeremy, that I went to high school with! I had not seen him since I graudated high school! He is a student at VCU about to graduate in May. How crazy. I hope to hang out with him sometime soon and catch up. But, how crazy to run into someone from my hometown here in Richmond.
Today begins the painting. Well, hopefully….it’s almost 1:00 and I haven’t started.
Seems like life has been too busy lately. I hope it slows down for the spring and summer.
We are kicking off a month of painting this weekend. I’m hoping to paint two of the bathrooms this weekend. Then next weekend we will paint the kitchen, then the following weekend I hope to paint the great room. I also want to paint the 3rd bedroom sometime this month. The look and feel of our house could change a lot over the next month as we are painting and doing other little projects. I’m very excited.
I’ve finally decided to get another personal training certification. I’ve been thinking about it for about a year and realized that this would be the best time to do it (mainly because I’m not in school). I decided to go with NASM’s personal trainer certification because it is very science based and goes along with a lot of the continuing education courses I took last year. So, for the next six-eight weeks I’ll be studying some each day, but it will be worth it because it will allow me to make more money.
Oh, it is so good to be home. We had a nice time visiting family over the past couple of weekends, but it is still good to be home. We don’t have any plans for the next two weekends and I’m so excited about that! Hopefully we will get some painting and yardwork done.
