Today I passed my National Academy of Sport Medicine personal training test! That means I get a raise at work!!!
The kitten has been officially named Piper and we are pretty sure its a boy. He is adapting great! On the first day he used the litter box and made himself at home. Right now he is snuggling beside me, purring, and licking my arm as I try to pet him. Unfortantely not everyone is a fan of Piper. Audrey seems to be scared of him. When she sees him she growls or hisses and runs away. Hopefully, she will get over that in a week or two. Dan has been taking videos of Piper playing, so expect to see the cutest level of his blog to double as he posts them.
Tomorrow at Libby Park from 9:00 until sunset is the Gargantuan Church Hill Yard Sale!!!!!!!!!!
There is no doubt that this is the perfect neighborhood for me.
Job: I applied for some new jobs and even went on an interview, determined to not be working at Gold’s by the end of the summer. But, then, magically, I started to enjoy my job. I’ve been busy with regular clients and it has been good. Also, on Monday I take another certification exam and if I pass, then I get a big pay raise at work. So, I’m going to focus on building a good buisness at Gold’s and see how I feel in the fall. I’ve come to realize that I don’t mind waking up so early for work because I get to enjoy the afternoon and that sounds like a good way to live in the summer.
Yoga: Yoga in the park rocks! Kendra rocks! And the possibility of going out for pizza & half-price wine next week after yoga rocks!
House: Ok, get ready…..here comes the privacy fence! We have had the huge tree in the backyard removed. Then we pulled up the weeds and poison ivy/oak/whatever that was growing into our yard from our neighbor’s. Tonight we are going to Home Depot to place our order and see about renting an auger. This Saturday one of my clients & her boyfriend might come help us remove a small tree (didn’t realize it was going to be in the way) and help us figure out what to do about the hilly parts of the yard. SO, hopefully, we will be putting up the fence next weekend (6/24-25). Then, very soon after that we will have the biggest party of the year as we celebrate “It’s Summer and We Have a Privacy Fence”!!!!!!!!!
Here are pics of our yard before the tree was removed and after. I can’t believe what a difference it made.

Cats: So, does everyone remember Pip, the lovable stray that was living on our porch? Well, Pip had her kittens sometime in Feb/March and we hadn’t seen much of her since. Until, last week. I was very excited that she came back “home”. But, she didn’t come alone. She brought one of her babies with her, Pipette. Pipette is quite adorable. It didn’t take long for Dan & me to want to include her/him (not quite sure) in our family. So, today we brought Pipette inside our house. She is a little scared, but lets us hold her and pet her. It will be interesting to see how Pipette adapts to being an indoor kitten and also how Audrey handles all of this.
Here is a picture of Pip and Pipette. It’s hard to tell the difference in this picture, but Pip is the one in front. I’ll share more pics as we take them.

Two nights in a row we had wonderful dinners at The Hill Cafe. Unfortantely, we finally made it to grocery store and will not NEED to eat there tomorrow night (but maybe Friday?).
Ah….. Time to rest and prepare for a very busy week of work. Also planned for my weekend is a list of chores that doesn’t seem to end plus hours of studying for my next certification. If I can find the time and convince Dan that we should go, maybe we’ll be partaking in some beer & seafood tomorrow.
Why is it that after applying for 4 new jobs and having one very good interview that I have a couple of really good days at the gym and actually enjoy my job?
Tomorrow evening my friend/co-worker/neighbor, Kendra, will be teaching a yoga class at Chimborazo Park. The class will start at 7:00 and is open to everyone. The class is free, but she will accept donations. This could be a very cool thing. I hope I can handle it.
Today I caught up with an old friend. During our conversation he told me that he is gay. He said that hiding this part of him has been a struggle for years, and I’ve seen how unhealthy it has been for him. He says he feels a lot better now that he is not hiding. In fact, he has meet someone. He is experiencing those “butterfly” feelings that we all get when newly in love. However, some people in his life are not accepting of this, and are refusing to be apart of his life. I feel so sorry for him. He had to struggle for years, and during his struggle he felt dead, but, now he is alive and in love, but not free to share and express his love as I am able. He can not bring his new love home and share with him the house he grew up in, the church he cherishes, where he went to high school….. When I see stories like this I am always left wondering “Why?”. Why can’t we get over ourselves to share in the happiness of others, why is it more important for us to be right than to live life?
My friend Deanna wrote an article about Relay For Life that was published on Richmond.com a couple days ago. Then the day after it was published another writer for Richmond.com did an article about personal training and had this picture of me with one of my clients along side the article.

Go Richmond.com!

Relay for Life is tomorrow night! There are several events going on around town, but Dan & I will be going to the Richmond West event at Deep Run Park. Even if you are not on a team you can still go to the event. At the event there will be music from local bands and a lot of on-site fundraising like salsa dancing and auctions. Also, there will be lots of food. It could be a great way to start the weekend.
If you want to learn more about Relay For Life then you can read more on here or visit the Relay for Life of Richmond West website.
