This week’s blog post is a continuation of my fashion magazine review mini-series. This week I will be reviewing InStyle magazine and will provide my thoughts and opinions on whether or not you should subscribe to it. Last year I was gifted a year-long subscription to InStyle magazine and this post is my comprehensive review.
A full-year subscription to InStyle magazine consists of 12 issues and is $19.50 from Magazine Store. InStyle magazine claims it “features the latest in celebrity news, fashion coverage, beauty how-to’s and lifestyle trends”. This is a very accurate description of what you will discover inside the magazine. InStyle magazine has 430 reviews and a rating of 4.8 stars on the Magazine Store website.
InStyle magazine has many high-end, designer advertisements and perfume samples in each issue. Each issue features interviews with fashion industry icons and a substantial trend watch and market report section. If you are interested in what to wear and buy, InStyle magazine will keep you informed. I have discovered many brands through InStyle and am always looking to expand my knowledge of brands and products in the fashion industry. Each InStyle issue features a “my style crush” section where celebrities are interviewed on runway looks and more. One of my favorite things about fashion magazines is the collages. Trend and style collages are very inspirational. I was initially drawn to InStyle magazine because of its extensive fashion collages. InStyle is largely a fashion magazine, but it does touch on beauty and lifestyle advice/stories. I enjoy reading inspirational articles from industry professionals which pair nicely with the magazine’s overall fashion guides. InStyle is a great well-rounded fashion magazine without too many distracting advertisements. In comparison to last week’s review of SHAPE magazine, InStyle has a larger focus on fashion and less of a focus on fitness and health. If you are interested in subscribing to a fashion magazine but do not know which one to choose or where to start looking, I strongly recommend InStyle magazine. InStyle is the perfect magazine for fashionistas looking to expand their knowledge of trends and the fashion industry without boring, extremely dense articles commonly featured in the popular fashion magazine, Vogue.
