During quarantine, a lot of time was spent indoors wondering what to do. Something easy was throwing on a TV show which led to lots of TV shows being hyped up and talked about during quarantine. Some popular TV shows from 2020 are Tiger King, Outer Banks, Love Island USA, Emily in Paris, and The Bachelorette. Halloween is in a few days and whether you are going out or staying in these are easy, quick Halloween costumes you can put together using things you already have in your wardrobe. This is a great year to dress up as your favorite character from a 2020 TV show as a lot of people have turned to TV as an escape or have at least heard someone mention these popular shows.
Tiger King
Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin
This is a great halloween costume that requires little effort. Throw on a crazy shirt (bonus if it includes animal print) and pair with jeans or khakis. Maybe you have the perfect old shirt in the back of your wardrobe or take a quick trip to your local thrift/charity shop (a wild animal print shirt should be a cheap buy). If you are dressing up as Carole Baskin add a flower crown or big headband and some large earrings. If you are dressing up as Joe Exotic, grab some sport sunglasses (added bonus if they have brightly colored reflective lenses) and if you want to really elevate your look top it off with a bleach-blonde mullet wig.
Outer Banks
This is a great costume to do with a group of friends or as a costume duo with another friend. For this costume you can wear any old, relaxed summer clothes. Here the possibilities are endless, and another easy costume to buy from a thrift/charity shop if you find you do not have any worn in summer clothes. An outfit example is pairing light-washed jean shorts with a crop top or bikini top and throwing a big button down shirt. Tie the shirt around you waist and pull one side down your shoulder for a relaxed feel. To look more like the characters, apply a layer of fake tan and add some texture to your hairstyle to look like you just got back from the beach. Go barefoot or add some sandals of your choice.
Love Island USA
Dress up as your favorite islander or love island couple!! This is another costume where you really cannot go wrong. Throw on a swimsuit and sunglasses for a daytime look or dress up in fancy wear for a night time/recoupling look. To make the look scream ‘Love Island’ wear a black belt around your waist or black belt bag to make it look like your mic bag strap. Top off the outfit by carrying around a water bottle and saying “I got a text”!
Emily in Paris
To dress up as Emily in Paris wear your most bougie top and bottom combo. Think it doesn’t match? Don’t worry about it. Wear color, fringe, and patterns and wear it with confidence like Emily would. She doesn’t normally wear barrettes but if you really want people to know you are Emily in Paris add one for good measure. Pair your outfit with your nicest bag and tallest heels. Très chic!
The Bachelorette
This is the perfect costume idea for someone who wants to dress up. Wear a fancy dress (long dress preferred) for a cocktail party look and hold a rose that you will mysteriously give out to someone of your choice. This is also a fun costume to do with male friends if they all dress up in suits like the men trying to court the bachelorette in the show. Or just dress up with your partner and hold one rose which represents the final rose ceremony!
