Everything You Need to Know About FashionPass Clothing Subscription

FashionPass is a clothing subscription company for women who want to stay on trend without the commitment of purchasing a lot of clothes. FashionPass’s target audience is women in their late teens to early 30s. The clothes offered on FashionPass are for women who are enjoy going out, attending events (prom, homecoming, weddings, festivals), or just want to dress like an Instagram blogger. FashionPass advertises as being able to send new outfits to their subscribers every week. Everything about the website screams trendy and the outfits look like something fashion models would wear while traveling or going to brunch with their friends.

Pricing

FashionPass offers three subscription plans varying in the number of clothing items and accessories you can have at your home at once. All the membership options offer free style advice, free insurance, free shipping both ways, free dry-cleaning, and the option to switch out clothing or accessory pieces whenever you want.

Socialite: 2 Clothing Items + 1 Accessory at a time $79/month

Trendsetter: (advertised as most popular) — 3 Clothing Items + 2 Accessories at a time $109/month

Wanderlust: 4 Clothing Items + 3 Accessories at a time $139/month

FashionPass allows customers to browse clothing and accessory options before signing up for a membership. The clothing and accessory options most remind me of things you would find on Revolve. FashionPass appears to be a more modern, trendsetting clothing subscription service compared to Rent The Runway. Rent the Runway pioneered the idea of clothes sharing business in 2009 and caters to older women who work jobs where they need to wear business professional or more mature clothing. FashionPass caters to women who wear ‘younger’ more ‘hip’ looking clothes. FashionPass does not claim to be sustainable by any means however the idea of sharing clothes is more sustainable than having lots of people purchasing fast fashion. With FashionPass, clients can stay on-trend and follow fast fashion while reducing the environmental impact of fashion. FashionPass offers brands such as Lack of Color, Free People, Show Me Your Mumu, For Love & Lemons, and Rebecca Minkoff.

Overall Review

My concluding thoughts are that FashionPass is great for women on the go who want to stay on-trend and enjoy mixing new pieces into their wardrobe. I recommend the ‘socialite’ plan as it makes the most financial sense. If you are someone who goes out or has events once a week this plan is perfect because you can switch out your ‘going-out’ outfit every week and then have another revolving piece for the week (either a new jacket, trousers, or top) and add one accessory! If you end up loving a piece of clothing you got from the subscription service you have the option of buying the piece at a 30% reduction from the normal retail value. Customers are also allowed to keep the items they receive for as long as their membership is valid. This allows someone to keep a winter jacket they love for a few months and then send it back in the spring when they are done with it. All in all, if you are someone who can’t live without new clothes this is a more sustainable way to get ‘new’ clothes and I approve of the clothing and accessory options.
