Style How-To

What to Wear to This Year’s Thanksgiving Dinner Party

American Thanksgiving is right the corner and this blog post will help you create the perfect outfit for any Thanksgiving event. Two stores I immediately think of when I picture what to wear to an autumn event are Anthropologie and Free People. These stores have pieces that are velvety and shimmery while still being comfortable. This outfit guide is geared towards classic Thanksgiving dinner parties with friends or family where you want to dress up a little, but not look overdressed or be uncomfortable. The color palette I stick with when creating Thanksgiving outfits consists of oranges, reds, maroons, purples, and any neutral tones. Keep reading to learn how to look and feel cute at any Thanksgiving party without having to worry about an uncomfortable outfit.

Anthropologie

Dresses

Recurring trends I noticed while looking at dresses are knee-length or midi-length dresses that are patterned and tiered, along with many tunic dresses. Dresses are perfect for Thanksgiving because they make you look like you put effort into your look while being super comfortable (plus you don’t have to worry about drinking or eating too much). Add tights and a sweater to warm up your look. These are my current favorite dresses from Anthropologie that are perfect for casual dinner parties.

Trousers and Skirts

If you are not a dress person or want extra warmth, nice trousers and skirts are perfect for creating a Thanksgiving outfit. Pair patterned trousers with solid-colored sweaters or blouses. A solid-colored turtle neck is a simple but classic go-to that can be paired with any trousers or skirts. Similar to the dresses, a common trend spotted is tiered skirts with patterns (midi-length or knee-length).

Free People

Dresses

Free People has great dresses that are the perfect combination of casual and dressy attire. The fit of these dresses is loose, making them very comfortable to be celebrating all day and night in. The patterns and added touches of velvet make the dresses more elegant than everyday wear.

Corduroys

Corduroys are typically thought of as everyday wear and not festive wear for a Thanksgiving dinner; however, if you don’t want to wear a dress or skirt they are the perfect trousers! Black corduroys add a little something special to an outfit instead of just wearing black jeans. Corduroys are fall/winter pants and can be dressed up with a fancy blouse or sweater. Corduroys are the perfect trousers for creating a monochromatic look because they add texture which breaks up the monotony of having a one-color outfit. Add a scarf or jewelry to spice up your look.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I do love all the fall colors you have shown and love that patterned trousers are coming alive.
