What to Wear to Survive a Hot London Summer

This week London is turning up the heat and with it comes the question of what to wear during a heatwave. If you are a tourist exploring the city or a person commuting to the office this blog post will teach you how to dress to stay cool this week.

My Heatwave Essentials

  • Sleeveless tops
  • Skirts
  • Sundresses
  • Light cardigan
  • Wide-leg light trousers

If you are a tourist in London it’s much easier to dress for the heat. I recommend wearing a lightweight sundress or flowy sleeveless tank and skirt. Air conditioning is rare in London so you won’t need to worry about carrying a sweater with you. If you are a commuter to an air-conditioned office, dressing becomes a little harder. I recommend pairing lightweight, wide-legged trousers with a sleeveless top and carrying a summer cardigan with you. Wide-leg trousers are perfect for keeping you warm while at work but are loose enough to keep you cool during your lunch break or when you are commuting. Sleeveless tops are my ultimate summer essentials and I love pairing them with a lightweight summer cardigan when I am in my air-conditioned university. Below are some of my favourite summer pieces on the market.

Sleeveless Tops

My top summer wardrobe staple. These tops keep you cool and won’t give you weird tan lines while you are enjoying the sun during your lunch break.

Lightweight Sundresses

Sleeveless, lightweight, flowy…perfect for a hot summer day!

Summer Cardigan

A colourful cardigan is a great way to spice up a neutral outfit.
