What Women Are Actually Wearing in London This Spring

London has turned up the heat and with it begins the yearly transition to spring/summer outfits. The two most popular items women are wearing in London are midi skirts and midi dresses. This past Saturday, it was sunny and warm and almost every woman I passed on the street was wearing a midi dress. Yesterday was one of the hottest days of the year, and on my commute to work almost every woman I passed was wearing a midi skirt. I was wondering what people wear to work in the summer that keeps them cool and still looks professional, and the answer is midi skirts! I have always been part of team mini skirts, but the women of London have convinced me to give midi skirts a second look. A fitted midi skirt or a midi skirt with a leg slit looks stylish and not overly conservative. I like the look of pairing a midi skirt with a crop top. Many women wear sneakers with their midi skirts and dresses and I think it looks great and must be comfortable. The majority of women wearing midi dresses and skirts were wearing patterns. You have to be careful when wearing a solid coloured, satin midi skirt because sometimes it looks more like a slip/undergarment and not a proper skirt. Many girls in my corporate fashion office wear midi skirts and always look cute. Another major pro to the midi length is that in windy London you never have to worry about accidentally flashing someone.

Midi skirts are a great transition piece from winter to spring to summer dressing. Midi skirts keep you cooler than trousers and don’t show off all of your legs as mini skirts do. Sometimes it can be a bit intimidating to go from wearing trousers all winter to wearing a mini skirt revealing your pale winter legs. Next time I am shopping and see a midi skirt, I am more likely to stop and check it out. Below are some cute midi skirts and dresses on the market.
