Don’t Know What to Wear? 3 Summer Date Night Outfits

July and August usually mean long, hot summer nights. Longer days give you extra time to squeeze in a date after work, before sunset, or just extend your plans later into the evening. I love summer dates where the night feels like it can go on forever. If you are invited out this summer and don’t know what to wear, this blog post will help you out. These are my top three summer date night outfits that you can recreate using clothes from your own closet. Always remember to wear what you feel most confident and beautiful in, not what societal pressures make you think you should wear.

Colorful, Short Dress

One of the easiest things to wear on a date is a dress. A dress is a one-and-done outfit. You do not need to worry about if your trousers go with your top or vice versa. A summer date is a perfect occasion to wear that bright dress that is hanging in the back of your closet. Do not be afraid of wearing color on a date night because this is the time when you are meant to shine! If you are nervous to wear a bright dress you can tone it down by throwing on a jean jacket; featured in the rightmost outfit above.

Fun Top & Denim

If you know you are going on a casual date (e.g. mini golf) then you may want to wear a fun top and denim. I am leaving the term denim pretty open-ended so you can modify the outfit to your climate. In New Hampshire, I would throw on a pair of long trousers, but if I lived in a warm climate I would stick to a denim skirt or shorts. Wearing a fun top like the ones featured above elevates your outfit from a daytime to a nighttime look. This is a great time to pull out your crazy, colorful tops because pairing them with denim will automatically tone down the outfit and make it appropriate for any activity.

All Black Everything

If you are having one of those days where you try on everything in your closet and don’t like a thing, try going for an all-black look. Sometimes putting on an all-black outfit is exactly what you need to boost your confidence and spirits before a date night. In the summer it’s hard to wear black during the day, so wearing it at night is a great way to utilize the black clothes you have hiding in your closet. I recommend mixing textures of fabrics (e.g. silk top with a leather skirt) or throwing on a dress for an elegant look.

Happy Summer Date Night!
