I bought an Aritzia parka in 2016 and have worn the coat religiously for the past seven years. Criteria for my perfect winter coat:
- Must be long — I love the way a below-the-knee wool coat looks.
- No belt — I have a belt on my trench coat and use it 15% of the time. The other 85% of the time it is tucked into my pockets. I love the sleek and sophisticated look of a wool coat without a belt.
- Must have perfectly placed pockets — As a girl with constantly cold hands, having pockets that feel like they are at the perfect height for my arms is essential.
- A neutral colour that is not black — Black wool coats are a magnet for dust and show everything. I want a neutral-coloured coat that I can wear for years.
I searched the internet with my criteria in mind and quickly realized that it is increasinly difficult to find an affordable 100% wool coat. The cost of manufacturing is increasing and many fashion brands are making wool blend coats to keep their prices down. Idealy I would love to invest in a 100% wool coat that I will keep forever.
