Fun Outfits Inspired by Fall Foliage!

This year I am spending the autumn season in New Hampshire. Autumn in New Hampshire means leaves changing colors, corn mazes, apple picking, and crisp, cool days. I am inspired by the color palette of the leaves and how the colors work together. Different hues of oranges, reds, and maroons against brown, black, grey, or white-colored branches and tree trunks. When oak leaves fall off their trees they dry up and look like leather. When I think of outfits inspired by the autumn foliage I think of multicolored sweaters, jackets, and blanket scarves paired with basic black, brown, or grey pieces underneath. Like multicolored leaves circling the neutral tree trunks. Pair any outfit with leather to create a look truly inspired by fall foliage.

Here is an example of a neutral outfit comprised of a simple black top, blue jeans, and black boots paired with a multicolored jacket. The jacket encompasses autumn foliage colors with its muted oranges, yellows, greens and browns. The jacket represents leaves swirling in the air around the tree trunk. I like the fringe at the bottom of the jacket which adds movement to the full length piece. It reminds me of wearing a body length scarf. This look mixes leather colors by pairing a brown leather bag with black boots. Mix and match your leather colors to add dimension to your look or keep leathers the same to keep your outfit looking cohesive.

Here is an example of how a blanket scarf can elevate your autumn look. A blanket scarf is an oversized scarf that can be worn as a shawl (as shown) or can be worn as a traditional scarf with lots of volume in the front. This scarf is made with classic foliage colors and is worn on top of a basic black outfit. This is another example of different colored leathers being paired together. Black booties elongate her legs while the red bag adds a pop of color contributing to the autumn foliage theme.

I love this last outfit because when I think of leaves changing colors I think of them blowing in the wind and falling down. This makes me think of silky clothing that flows and moves when worn. This outfit is a perfect representation of the fabrics and colors I think of when I look at the leaves. The fitted top appears to be a silky material made of dark maroon and muted orange hues. The loose bottoms contrast perfectly with the tight top. The bottoms are also a dark maroon color that look like they flow freely in the wind. Heels make any outfit instantly more put together and this outfit shows how you can dress up casual pants throwing on a pair of heels.

Happy Fall 2020!
