This past weekend I attended my friend’s college graduation in Massachusetts. On Saturday we went into Boston and had dinner on Newbury Street. Our outdoor dining table was practically on the street, making it perfect for people watching. If you have never been to Boston, Newbury Street is a popular destination filled with boutiques, restaurants, and entertainment. For two hours, I watched people of all ages walk by. This blog post will reveal the three most popular outfits worn by gen-Z females on a Saturday night out in Boston. As a side note, it was eighty degrees Fahrenheit, so I did not spot any jacket trends.
1. Short Summer Dresses
Short summer dresses were the number one outfit spotted on this night out. This is personally my favorite outfit I saw on people. Most girls wore either floral patterned or pastel-colored dresses. These dresses were typically short, and I spotted a few with ruffle details along the hem.
2. Crop Top and Skirt
A skirt and crop top was the second most popular outfit worn on this night. This outfit reminds me a lot of the summer dress look; they both were either floral patterned or pastel-colored. Skirts with ruffles were commonly seen paired with crop tops. Both the short summer dresses and crop top/skirt outfits look like they could be easy day-to-night looks.
3. Light Wash Jeans and a Black Top
Light wash jeans and a black top has been a popular going-out outfit for a while and is my least favorite of the looks. Light wash jeans seem too casual for a nighttime look, and the jeans+black top outfit is a basic gen-Z trend that is overworn. I spotted a group of three girls walking together, all wearing the same outfit: light wash jeans and a black top. This shows me that this outfit is still popular among gen-Z women even though it is not my favorite.

I just want to thank you for your ‘fashion show’. I was surprised to see short skirts still being worn. Of course, I have not been out so do see very little of people.
